End of a British retail icon as all BHS stores to close within a month — 5000 jobs lost

EVERY BHS store in the country will close within a month leaving 5,000 workers without a job.

An announcement is expected on Monday confirming all 114 of the doomed chain's shops will close by August 20. 

Described as the biggest retail collapse since the closure of Woolworths in 2008, it is understood it would have cost £100million to bail out BHS. 

Several would-be buyers have fallen by the wayside since the once popular high street retailer went into administration earlier this year.

Mr Fuller replied: "I don't wish to make you feel uncomfortable, Sir Philip."

Sir Philip accused MPs of attacking and bullying him, declaring: "I can't deal with this." 

Just last Friday he suggested the £571 million pensions black hole affecting about 20,000 former and current BHS employees could still be resolved.
