Conor McGregor Injury Shaped Fight, but Will it Force Down Time

Why did Conor McGregor use his left hand so frequently and to such tremendous effect in his UFC 205 headlining bout with Eddie Alvarez?

In a word, necessity.

Still feeling the affects of his second Nate Diaz fight, McGregor had more than a couple bumps and bruises that made it difficult to prepare for Alvarez. But he found a way through it and came out a more skilled fighter for his efforts.

McGregor achieved greatness at UFC 205, adding Alvarez's lightweight belt to his featherweight title. The Irishman is now the only fighter in UFC history to hold championship belts in two divisions simultaneously.

But did fighting through the injuries cost him? Will pushing the limits force more downtime?
